Plant Note makes plant science easier to understand by connecting reliable information with the things people notice in leaves, roots, flowers, pots, and everyday growing conditions.
Why Plant Note exists
When people look for help with a plant problem, they often hope for a one-line answer that will solve it: water more, water less, move the plant, or add fertilizer. Yet the same visible symptom can have different causes. A more useful way forward is to understand what may be happening inside the plant, examine the growing conditions around it, and assess the information and clues available before reaching a conclusion. Advances in AI have made it possible for me to present plant-related concepts with the help of technology, so I built this site in my spare time.
Plant Note starts with the fundamentals: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, light, water, air, and the stages of plant growth. It then connects those ideas to familiar situations such as yellowing leaves, leggy growth, root rot, bud drop, or growing media that stay too wet and poorly aerated. The goal is not to prescribe a single formula for every plant, but to help readers interpret what they see on a sounder basis. Some of the ideas may feel unfamiliar at first, but as readers build their knowledge step by step, they can gradually make those ideas their own, understand plant processes more deeply, and use that understanding to care for plants more effectively.

I'm Zhu Lee, a horticulture professional from Taiwan with a master's degree in Horticulture from National Chung Hsing University.
My work includes agricultural education and outreach, work with farmer organizations, and ornamental plant cultivation and production. I also run an independent plant brand and, outside of work, I'm a coffee enthusiast.
How I create Plant Note
At Plant Note, I set the site's editorial direction, select topics, check content, and edit it into plain language. I use AI to assist with initial drafts and the production of teaching visuals, and I review every article before publication. I created the site to turn scattered plant science and horticultural information into a connected knowledge resource that readers can search, understand, and continue exploring—not just a collection of isolated growing tips.
- Topics and structure: identify useful reader questions and gaps in the knowledge base, then define what each article should explain and how it connects to related concepts.
- Sources and checking: compare material from universities, botanical gardens, agricultural extension services, open textbooks, and professional organizations, and confirm that each source supports the claim being made.
- Plain-language editing: aim to explain technical terms and plant processes in language general readers can understand, then gradually introduce deeper botanical concepts, examples, and common points of confusion.
- Teaching visuals: decide what an image should help readers see, and review plant form, captions, alternative text, source details, and reuse rights. Some images may be created with generative models, but each is reviewed before publication.
- Maintenance and revision: maintain internal links, review information and dates, test page presentation, and update material when better evidence, visual issues, or reader feedback calls for a change.

A reader might begin with a yellow leaf, then continue to articles about roots, water movement, light, or growing media. These connections are part of the site's purpose: to turn an individual question into a clearer understanding of how plants function.
Sources, images, and updates
Plant Note gives priority to universities, botanical gardens, agricultural extension resources, open textbooks, professional organizations, and other credible educational sources. References actually used to check an article appear in its evidence and attribution section so readers can continue to the source material.

Example plants
The site uses familiar foliage plants, flowering plants, seedlings, and low-risk gardening situations when they make an abstract concept easier to understand. These examples are teaching tools, not universal rules. Differences in species, growth stages, climates, and home environments still need to be considered when interpreting them.
Content boundaries
Plant Note provides educational plant science and gardening content. It does not provide food safety judgments, toxicity judgments, pesticide prescriptions, medical claims, legal advice, or guaranteed outcomes for individual plants.
Plant Note is an independent plant knowledge resource, not an academic institution, government agency, or professional diagnostic service. Its articles aim to distinguish clearly between established concepts, reasonable inferences, and conclusions that still depend on the species or growing conditions.
